Lidl has opened a dedicated ecommerce website in Belgium, which currently lists about 350 non-food items. Belgium is now the first country, aside from its home country Germany, where Lidl has launched an online store. The supermarket discounter is slowly stepping up its game with regards to ecommerce. The Netherlands could be next.

The British online retailer AO World has opened its online store in the Netherlands. Adlibris, the leading online bookstore in the Nordics, is partnering with CDON to sell books via the CDON Marketplace. As a result of this partnership, CDON will phase out its own assortment of books. Its current sales volume of books is in the range 21-27 million euros on an annual basis.

Amazon has started selling fresh fruit and vegetables in Italy through its Prime Now service. For now, the fresh produce can only be ordered online by people living in the city of Milan and 34 municipalities in the back country, but if it happens to be a big success, more cities will probably follow.

Swedish startup iFoodbag developed an eponymous product which could revolutionize the online grocery industry. The iFoodbag is a temperature-controlled packaging solution that can protect chilled and frozen goods for up to 24 hours. With this, shopping online for groceries should be easier, as customers can now order products like frozen meat without any hassle.

AO.com, the largest online kitchen appliance specialist in the United Kingdom, has announced it has plans to launch a dedicated ecommerce website in the Netherlands. The online retailer expects to commence trading in the Netherlands in the spring of next year.

Amazon has launched its one-hour delivery service, called Amazon Prime Now, in Italy. Consumers who are Amazon Prime members can schedule a same-day delivery for free and have goods delivered within the hour for 6.90 euros. Italy is now the second European country to offer this Amazon service, after the United Kingdom got the scoop in July.

Fashion retailer H&M will soon launch an online store in Switzerland. It's not officially announced yet, but all the indications are that the Swedish company will open its Swiss online store in just a few days. Poundland, a UK retailer that sells products for the fixed £1 price, has launched its first online store. Now customers in the United Kingdom can shop online for more than 2,000 items in categories such as cosmetics, food and drink, health and beauty, DIY and pets.
