French cosmetics company Yves Rocher is closing all of its branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With the company’s current business model, it is no longer possible to operate sustainably and successfully. It will continue operating in those markets, but online only.

Mirakl secures 100 million euros

Marketplace solution provider Mirakl has secured 100 million euros in debt financing. The funding will be used to enhance its technology and to finance acquisitions. The company was already valued at over 2,92 billion euros in 2021, after a Series E funding round of 468 million euros.

Amazon opens fulfillment center in the Netherlands

Ecommerce giant Amazon has opened its first fulfillment center in the Netherlands. With the new location, the online marketplace will be able to deliver Dutch orders faster. The launch is part of a collaboration with Dutch logistics company Bleckmann.

Wehkamp turnover €433 million last year

Europe’s top 6 ecommerce markets generate 72% online spend

In 2022, the six biggest ecommerce markets in Europe generated 72 percent of the total European ecommerce spend. The European ecommerce markets that are most developed by penetration rate, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, have returned to their pre-pandemic growth trends. Emerging markets, like Italy and Spain, are still growing above trend.

Dutch consumers expect to shop online more often

Consumers in the Netherlands expect to spend 37 percent of their total expenditures online by 2028. This is five percentage points higher than the actual percentage in 2022. iDeal transactions in the Netherlands increased 7.9%
