In Europe, more and more consumers like to pay using their smartphone or tablet. In share of mobile device owners who already have experience with mobile payments, Turkey is the absolute leader in Europe. This is apparent from the latest report by yStats.com, called “Europe Online Payment Methods: First Half 2015”.
Consumers from Belarus are increasingly shopping across the border. As a matter of fact, citizens from this Eastern European country ranked fifth (and thereby leaving behind the US and Canada) in terms of online purchases during China’s Singles Day on November 11. Together, Belarusians spent nearly 3 billion dollars abroad annually, while domestic producers continue to lose their local markets.
What is there to say about the ecommerce industry of Belarus? Well, the share of Belarusian internet users who shop online has hit 75 percent. And more than half of those online shoppers buy home appliances and mobile devices. People in Belarus are still eager to pay their goods ordered online by paying cash on delivery.
The ecommerce market of Eastern Europe may be the smallest of the four European regions, it has seen in fact the biggest growth in terms of percentage. Because with an average growth rate of 35.7% over the year 2012, this ecommerce market was the strongest growing region in Europe that year.
