Amazon has confirmed it has plans to launch an online grocery service in France. Since the launch of Amazon Fresh in the US in 2016, the American company is focusing more and more on selling food online.

Mobile commerce sales in the three biggest ecommerce markets of Europe – the United Kingdom, France and Germany – will reach over 85 billion euros this year. Almost 57 percent of this amount will come from the UK, while Germany will have bigger mcommerce sales than France.

Monoprix, subsidiary of Casino Group, is busy acquiring Sarenza, a popular online shoe retailer from France. With the expected acquisition, Monoprix wants to further present itself as an omnichannel lifestyle leader. The ecommerce know-how of Sarenza should help Monoprix with its digitalization strategy.

Amazon will create 2,000 permanent jobs in France this year. This means that there will be about 7,500 people working for Amazon in France at the end of this year. The new positions are open to people with various levels of experience, training and skills.

ManoMano, a European online marketplace specialized in DIY & gardening, closed last year with a global turnover of 250 million euros, which is an increase of 180 percent compared to 2016, when the French company generated a turnover of 90 million euros. Its UK turnover doubled year-over-year.

Amazon has launched its business marketplace Amazon Business in France. The B2B ecommerce website is now available on three Amazon marketplaces in Europe. Amazon UK and Amazon Germany already gave business customers the opportunity to buy business supplies through Amazon Business.

Ecommerce in France could top the 100 billion mark next year, according to estimates from the national ecommerce association Fevad. For this year, it's predicted that online retail sales in France will exceed 90 billion euros.

Chinese online retailer JD.com is ready to take on Amazon in Europe. The company will first launchs its ecommerce platform and delivery services in France next year. After that, the United Kingdom and Germany are next.

Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba will soon open a logistics center in France and increase the sale of French products on its online trading platforms. The company is currently looking for a site and for partners.

Packhelp, a Polish startup that manufactures custom packaging, has launched localized versions of its ecommerce website in France, Italy, Spain and Czech Republic. The company already sells to thirty countries across Europe, but is planning to launch more localized versions for these markets.

The French brand Céline, the only LVMH-owned fashion label without its own ecommerce business, has launched its online store. For now, the ecommerce website Celine.com is only available in France, but next year it will roll out further in Europe, the United States and, in 2019, in Japan.

So far this year, 363.439 new sellers joined Amazon marketplaces in Europe. Among new sellers on all marketplaces that Amazon has worldwide, 36.3 percent registered on Amazon in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France or Spain.

42 percent of consumers from France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden have used click & collect in the past twelve months. And one in four Europeans who used click & collect bought another product in-store while they were picking up their online order.

Fnac Darty has launched Darty+, an omnichannel subscription service for delivery, support and after-sales. It provides access to unlimited deliveries and gives subscribers daily support with the Darty Button.

Sloggi, the underwear brand from Triumph, is now presenting itself completely independently online and has launched an online shop in Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria and France. By the end of the year, Sloggi also wants to have online stores in seven more countries throughout Europe.
