It was often hot in Europe last month, but this month it also might be a good idea to visit some interesting and air-cooled ecommerce events! As always, we've made a handy overview for you, so you know when and where an ecommerce event takes place this month in Europe.

Afound, H&M's newest retail brand, has announced that it will open its online store on 14 June. On that day, the outlet brand will also open the doors of its physical store in Stockholm. Two days later, the Malmö store will open.

Loberon, an online furniture store from Germany, has launched a dedicated ecommerce website in the Netherlands. The launch marks the third time the German retailer opened an online store abroad, after starting operations in Austria and Switzerland.

The popular Dutch payment method iDeal performed well last year. The number of payments with iDeal has increased by 33.8 percent during that period, which is a growth the method hasn't seen since 2011. More and more foreign online stores are now offering iDeal to Dutch customers.

Chinese ecommerce giant JD.com has introduced a solution for online retailers looking to sell in China. The China Railway Express is 'faster than the sea and cheaper than air', JD.com promises. The first freight full of JD-procured goods from Europe went from Germany to China last week.

French supermarket chain Franprix has started tests with delivering groceries to the customer's home, while the customer isn't at home during the delivery. Franprix is the first company to test this kind of service in France.

Online fashion retailer Next has announced it will start charging customers a £1 fee (1.14 euros) for returns they make through a courier or through a Hermes Parcel Shop. The collection charge will be applied for each collection, regardless of the number of items collected. Returning items at any of Next's retail or clearance stores in the UK remains free.

The winners of the FDIH E-handelsprisen 2018 were revealed and online supermarket Nemlig.com won the main award. At the same event, Too Good To Go was rewarded with the title of best newcomer, while the 19-year old Daniel Johannesen was named the best ecommerce entrepreneur.

Emma, a German retailer that sells mattresses online, is the fastest-growing startup in Europe. Or at least in the countries The Next Web describes as the continent's six hottest startup ecosystems: the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and Sweden.

Adyen, a major Dutch company that processes payments for companies such as Airbnb, Uber, Spotify and Netflix, confirmed it plans to list its shares publicly in Amsterdam. The company announced it will go public on the Euronext stock market next month.

Another city in Europe has decided to launch its own online marketplace. This time it's the city of Lüneberg, a town in the German state of Lower Saxony, that started the ecommerce initiative. There are some strong rumors that Lidl is looking to move into ecommerce, after the discounter created a holding company called Lidl Digital Logistics in the United Kingdom. According to the Daily Mail, this shows that Lidl is entering the grocery delivery market.

Klarna has acquired Shop.co, a small German startup that wants to simplify online shopping by offering a universal shopping cart. There's little known about the deal, but according to Klarna it's mostly about the acquisition of intellectual property and taking over a mere Shop.co employees.

PayPal has signed an agreement to acquire iZettle, a Swedish fintech company that's aimed at small businesses. PayPal will pay 2.2 billion euros for iZettle, which makes it the biggest acquisition of PayPal ever.

Europe's leading consumer electronics retailers MediaMarktSaturn and Fnac Darty will join forces to set up a European retail alliance. This should help both parties with offering exclusive products and services to customers and achieving efficiency in the partnership with their suppliers. The European Retail Alliance will be open to other retailers.
