Wholesale platform BigBuy generated a turnover of 65 million euros in 2020. And 90 percent of the B2B company's sales shipped out of Spain. France and Italy accounted for most sales through this wholesale platform.

More than three quarters of Spanish consumers say they shop online more now than before the coronavirus outbreak. Half of Spaniards even make purchases online at least once a week.

Wildberries has launched dedicated ecommerce websites in France, Italy, and Spain. The entry into these markets follows after Wildberries' launch in Germany last month. The major Russian online retailer is now available in several countries across Europe.

Amazon Fresh has arrived in Spain. This service, which is only for Amazon Prime members, offers same-day grocery deliveries in two-hour slots. Amazon Fresh starts in and around Madrid, but will soon also arrive in Barcelona and, later on, in other Spanish cities.

Tom Omnichannel Management has launched Spanish versions of eleven of its online shops. The Dutch omnichannel ecommerce company says it now wants to focus even more on the international market.

Honèstica is a new online shop from Spain, that only sells ethical and sustainable products that are made in Spain. It offers all kinds of products, from cosmetics and decorative items, to fashion, face masks and peach jam.

Todos Tus Libros is a new online platform, formed by more than 700 bookstores in Spain. Together, they want to unite against ecommerce giants such as Amazon. The independent sellers seek to gain a foothold in the online books market.

Spain-based parcel platform Paack has raised 44 million euros. Practically all of it has been invested by British private equity fund Bregal Milestone, who led the Series C investment round. With the millions of euros, Paack wants to turbocharge its growth and expand its coverage across Europe.

Southern Europe, in this case defined as Spain and Italy, is lagging behind in ecommerce. Online sales as a percentage of total retail, for example, are far lower than in more northerly countries. But why is this?

El Corte Inglés has redesigned its distribution network in Spain. The department store chain turned 90 of its stores across Spain into online logistics centers. El Corte Inglés wants to accelerate its online sales and further compete with Amazon.

Worten has closed 17 physical stores in Spain and will instead focus more on its online sales channel, after adding continuous losses since 1998. The Portuguese electronics retailer has entered into dissolution several times and, according to its auditor PwC, hasn't provided all the information required to guarantee a viability plan.

Inditex, the major clothing company from Spain, has shown some strong growth online. The retail group is taking more and more steps in its digital transformation and that's not without results. For the first time, Inditex processed one million orders in one day.

Ebay will bring its managed payments service to sellers in three new markets in Europe next year. In the first quarter of 2021, eBay will manage payments in France, Italy and Spain.

Checkout Charlie, a German company with many consumer and discount portals, is expanding in Europe again. The business, part of A company of the Media Group RTL Germany, has launched two new voucher portals: Buonisconto.it in Italy and Topdescuento.es in Spain.

Fashion retailer Mango will share a part of the turnover generated by ecommerce with its franchisers. Initially, Mango will do this only in the Netherlands, Spain and France, all markets where the company has many franchisers.
