DHL extends parcel network across the Nordics and Baltics

DHL has joined forces with the Finnish postal operator Posti and Bring, a subsidiary of Norwegian postal operator Posten Norge. Together they offer a B2C infrastructure for parcel deliveries across Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic states. With 6,500 parcel shops and parcel stations across seven countries it will be the largest parcel network in northern Europe.

FedEx buys Dutch delivery service TNT for 4.4 billion euro

Yesterday FedEx announced that it wants to buy the Dutch delivery company TNT for $4.8 billion (4.4 billion euro) to strengthen its ground delivery options in Europe. Currently FedEx is already active in 220 countries but in Europe it's still a relative small company. With TNT it could become one of the major players in the ecommerce logistics industry, at least in the B2B market.

DHL invests €195m in the UK

DHL will invest 195 million euros (£156 million) in the United Kingdom. It invests heavily in the East Midlands and Heathrow, by improving the sorting and aircraft landing facilities at these sites. It will be Deutsche Post DHL’s largest investment in the UK in 14 years.

DHL starts delivery experiment with PaketButler

Together with DHL, Zalando and Feldsechs, Deutsche Telekom has developed a mobile solution for the acceptance for parcels in case a customer isn't home. In 2015, it will start an experiment with PaketButler: easily foldable bags consumers can place in front of their doors whenever they are about to receive a package that day, but won't be available to accept it themselves.
